Single as A Pringle

Proverbs 31 Woman (Excerpt)

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise. Proverbs 31:25-31 (NLT)

Hey ladies! In my last blog WAITING WELL: 4 ALL MY SINGLE LADIES I promised to follow up with additional details regarding what I’m doing with my single season. Anddddddd its about that time! So, let’s get into it. I’ll start by letting you know more about me. I’ve always been very ambitious, and several people have called me a go-getter over the span of my twenty something year life. One day while sitting before the Lord, praying for my purpose and identity, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that I am indeed a Proverbs 31 Woman.

Before you get all excited, please read the Bible. LOL!!! In these present times, some people in the world have glorified the idea of being a Proverbs 31 Woman without proper context. And let me tell you! She is busy! All the time! She is booked! Chileeeee….it sounds real glamorous but it’s a lot of work that goes into becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman and a lot of us want the title without putting in the work.

I feel compelled to tell you that I am not ambitious by choice. I don’t like a lot of attention and I’ve never had a desire to shine. I would prefer to chill in the background and raise a family while making a decent living. However, God has had other plans for me and life circumstances have forced me to grow up more quickly than most of my peers. I’ve always been on my grind because I had to. I grew up in a single parent home on the southside of Chicago in Englewood. I’ve had to work my behind off to get to where I am today. Please understand that I am not complaining about my portion, I just want you to have proper context.

Also, I don’t believe being a Proverbs 31 Woman is isolated to me. If you are reading this blog, there is something the Lord has here for you. With every stroke of my keyboard, I am pouring out my heart by the strength of the Holy Spirit to reach you. In my last blog, I reminded you how valuable you are to the King of Glory, Jesus Christ. Always remember to stay in position. God hides his most valuable assets and you will know when a man really wants to be with you and has good intentions for you because he will be willing to go all out for you.

Get Anchored

I feel like I am about to go off on another tangent so let’s get into some of the things I am doing with my single season. As a Proverbs 31 Woman, I have been led to do these things by the Holy Spirit. Remember in my other blog, ABOUT THAT JESUS LIFE: 3 WAYS I ENHANCED MY RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, I said to Follow Jesus. Well, my love, that is the most important part. It is vital that you sit at the feet of the Father for wisdom and instruction on what He would have you do for the Kingdom of God.

Also, let’s put things into perspective. Will you ever have as much time as you do now (in your single season) to spend with God? I think not! Sit before the Lord. Glean some wisdom from the Holy Spirit during your unplugged and uninterrupted time! Do it now! You won’t have time once your life becomes more demanding.

Wait. Can we just keep it real for a second… scratch all of that, what if Jesus cracks the sky 🌌 open. No seriously, what if the rapture suddenly happens within the next hour? And you ain’t said a word to the Jesus in months? Are you going up to Heaven with the rest of us? Or will Jesus say that He never knew you?86-30818-what-do-you-mean-only-2-free-drinks-its-ladies-night

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name. But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.” Matthew 7:21-23

Get Purposed

Hey boo! Do you know what your purpose is? Do you know why you were born? Yes, we are all here to advance the Kingdom of God. However, what were you sent here to do. I mean specifics…when I first asked God for specifics He was quiet. Then He led me to Proverbs 31 Coach Djuana Harvey. Djuana is a powerful Woman of God I found during my search for navigating my purity walk. She is an author, business woman, and founder of a global organization, consisting of over 2,000 women called “The Single Woman’s Suite,” that allows single women to hold one another accountable in godly dating, and courtship. I am a member of the Single Woman’s Suite. You can learn more about Djuana and her ministry at her website click here.

Djuana is the best example of a modern-day Proverbs 31 Woman that I’ve come across. She also has a HUGE testimony of sexual purity. Most importantly, she is reachable and relatable. She is fierce and carries herself as daughter of the King. I just love her y’all. Anyhow, knowing Djuana as a sister, friend, and mentor has blessed me in ways I could never even articulate to her.  She has been instrumental in helping me develop an even closer relationship with God.

In of September 2017, when I became involved in Djuana’s “Happy Single Woman’s Academy” program, I received a purpose revelation update from the Holy Spirit. God began to divulge specifics regarding my purpose and identity in Christ. At first, I was nervous about the answers I received because there are some things that God has purposed me to do that seemed like way too much! I don’t understand how I’m going to make any of those things happen. However, I am reminded daily that by the grace and strength of God, the Holy Spirit will work through me in order for me to achieve the purposes God has for me. It won’t be by might or power but by the spirit of God because His power works perfectly in my weakness. (Zechariah 4:6 & 2 Corinthians 12:9)

Get Active

Girl! If you don’t get your behind up and go to that gym 🙄! How do you think that you can take care of a family if you don’t take care of yourself? If you don’t have the energy now, you are not going to have it once you add a husband and kids to the picture. Both are blessings, yet both are extremely demanding! How are you even going to attract the Godly man you desire while walking around halfway outta breath? I’m talking to myself too here! Girl! Get yourself together! Last year I lost 40 lbs. by changing my eating habits and exercising regularly. Now I am in the process of figuring out the next step to take because I’ve plateaued. But listen sis, you don’t have do anything extreme, just make an effort and the Holy Spirit will meet you there. God met me where I was at.

Thank God for 40 lbs down!!!

Alright, we have talked enough about what I am doing. I want to make sure you are doing what you need to do and not sitting somewhere pining over a man. Unless that man is Jesus Christ! If your bored, which I cannot understand for the life of me 😐 because there are so many things we can be doing with our time…make sure you’re in position. Do you volunteer? Are you a pillar of your community? How active are you in your church? Who have you blessed or prayed for lately? Check yourself and get your attitude together. Better yet, go out and have fun! Go checkout that new movie 🎥, travel, or take that cooking class that you have been considering! There is soooo much more to life than a relationship!

I know what you’re thinking sis! When is my man coming? And you’re asking God when are you going to send me that husband Jesus? Well, God is asking you, what are you doing with what I gave you? God has given you another day on earth to make a difference. You will never get back that precious time that’s ticking away.

The Word: Proverbs 31 Woman (Excerpt)

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.” Proverbs 31:25-31 (NLT)

The Story/The Lesson: There is a purpose for every season. Our single season is usually one of the most important as we are to obtain as much knowledge and preparation from God for eternity while God has our undivided attention. There are so many amazing things God wants to prepare you for gorgeous! Focus on Him!

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, doesn’t want us sitting around waiting for marriage. God wants us to be actively seeking the purpose He has for our lives to advance the Kingdom of Heaven.

Once I became anchored, purposed, and active I began walking into the Queen lifestyle that Jesus would have me to live. God also began to work out a lot of toxicity that I’ve accumulated over the years. Including but not limited to negative attitudes and excess weight.

Double Bonus: Let go and Let God! He will take the pain away, literally! Listen to one of the songs that helps encourage me and remember who my help comes from – He’ll Take the Pain Away! Also, here is an interview I did with Djuana Harvey after graduating from The Happy Single Woman’s Academy.
