For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
I received a few questions on discovering purpose in response to my blog SINGLE AS A PRINGLE and I felt led by the Lord to expand on my prior thoughts. In the recent blog, I expressed that once I became anchored, purposed, and active I began walking into the Queen lifestyle that Jesus would have me to live. God also began to work out a lot of toxicity that I’ve accumulated over the years. Including, but not limited to, negative attitudes and excess weight.
I also discussed how I invested in a program led by one of my mentors. Just go back and read the blog if you missed it! I’ve been told it’s a great read! I would hope that once you’ve read the blog, that it would motivate you to get some spiritual leadership and spiritual community. Find some people willing to speak into your life and you can even look outside of the church. You cannot do this walk all alone. However, always remember to pray for discernment and let the Holy Spirit Guide you.
I sought answers from the Lord, after some time, I found them. Don’t get discouraged if you ask the Lord to reveal your purpose then nothing happens for 5 minutes. Pursue God, He runs after you! “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9 (NLT)
Here are some helpful questions from a sermon by TD Jakes given to the audience. I wish I could remember which sermon it was but I’m drawing a blank. These are some good questions that helped me understand Who I am in the Lord when I spent time asking God to reveal my purpose. I got real and I got vulnerable. I sat before the Lord after stripping myself of things that I identified myself with in the past (i.e. education, titles, etc.). I would encourage you to give it a try, start here and let the Holy Spirit guide your next steps:
- What does God want from me? i.e. are you the person who will bring your family back to Christ.
- What does God have in me? i.e. are you the person who will develop a cure for cancer.
- What will God spend on me (resources)? i.e. are you the person who miraculously receives resources from outreach all the time to do what God told you to do.
Got Purpose? Get you some by getting on your face before the lover of your soul, Jesus Christ!

The Story/The Lesson: God must be ready to give you instruction because He has been on me about expanding on Purpose.
