Welcome 2 the Good Life

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)

Welcome to the Good Life I would like to give you wisdom for new life. Someone recently asked me what I would tell myself when I first got saved? This is a blog meant for new Believers in the way, the truth, and the life – Jesus Christ John 14:6. However, I believe that wherever you are in your walk you can glean some knowledge if your heart is open.

So, to start…. CONGRATULATIONS! The day you chose Jesus was the day you made the best decision in your life. Romans 10:9 is the foundational scripture for knowing that you are saved. If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NLT) However, if you have additional questions or general questions about getting/being saved, Got Questions is a great resource. If you want to speak with or pray with anyone at the Love JC Ministry about getting saved click on the Contact link and we will get back with you ASAP.

Now that I have given you an overview and some resources. Let’s talk! I am so excited for your new journey with God. There are so many things I want to say to you. I wish I could welcome you with a big hug! But for now, I will share with you a few things I wish I knew when I first got saved.

Here is a big church hug!

People will disappoint you God will not! –

I can remember growing up without my biological father and needing his love. I recall trying to find that love in all the wrong places. It wasn’t until I met Jesus that I truly felt loved. As I write this, with tears in my eyes, I want you to know that God loves you. He loves you so much that He orchestrated the death of His one and only Son as atonement for your sins. He loves you so much that he has caused all things to work together for your good Romans 8:28. You haven’t done anything to deserve this type of love, but He still gives it. The best part is that now that you have truly accepted His love and declared Jesus Christ as Lord over your life…NOTHING…and I mean NO THING…can separate you from the Love of God. I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)

There have been countless occasions in my life where people have said they would show up and they did not. However, God has always been there. He may not have showed up when I wanted or how I wanted Him to…but he has always been an ON TIME God. I would like for you to know that He is always there, and He keeps His promises. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 (KJV)

God hasn’t given up on you and he will not. No matter how many mistakes you make or how much you sin. You can always come back to the Lord, He understands. You can always come home but please come with a repentant heart seeking His will. God will finish what He started in you. I have and know of countless testimonies to prove it. I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

We have an Advocate, the Holy Spirit!

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26 (NLT)

Well, there is so much I can say here but I am not sure I can do Him justice. The Holy Spirit has been working on me, with me and through me for a long time. I just wish I knew I had access to this support system from the beginning. He is not some spooky ghost that flies around the house. The Holy Spirit is like the Jesus we carry around inside of us daily. The guiding voice that helps us stay on track. The wise counselor that leads us towards the right things in life. I wish I knew that I could trust the leading of the Holy Spirit when I first got saved. I wish I could have recognized what it felt like. Nonetheless, I hope this inspires you to pray for discernment so that you can take advantage of the Advocate in your life. The Holy Spirit can help you in all facets of your walk with God. Do not just take my word for it, give him a shot. He will not disappoint you. The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we do not know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. Romans 8:26-27 (NLT)

We got haters! –

I wish I knew about our haters when I first got saved. Yes honey, we got haters. Satan is the biggest hater of them all. There is no need to worry about him he is a defeated foe. Always stirring up trouble. Yes, there will be trouble. You have a real enemy; he is a liar and a thief that will try to take you for everything that you have. But, more importantly you have a Savior that has delivered you! The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:10-11 (ESV)

I wish I had known the truth that I am about to share with you. We are not fighting for victory, we are fighting from victory!

READ THAT AGAIN! WE ARE NOT FIGHTING FOR VICTORY; WE ARE FIGHTING FROM VICTORY!

As a Believer you will have trouble. But trouble doesn’t last always, and it will pass. The battle is already won! Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19 (KJV)

I pray that my reflection blessed you. I thank God for you and again CONGRATULATIONS on choosing Jesus. I pray that you choose Him every single day. God is a God of relationship. He wants to develop a real connection with you. This will take time. Protect your relationship with Jesus and your love for God. Protect your light in this dark world. There is not a whole lot you need to do. Take care of God’s business and He will take care of you. Below is a prayer for anyone desiring a deeper walk with God.

Heavenly Father, we come to you today thanking you for your grace and mercy. We are so glad that you chose us and that we will one day join you in the Kingdom of Heaven. Lord you are so strong and mighty that we don’t have to be. Therefore, we lay down our lives, our wants and our desires at your feet. Lord God we ask you to be able to better discern when we encounter the Holy Spirit. We pray for a deeper relationship with your Holy Spirit. We praise you in advance for what you are about to do. We love you Lord and honor you. Today and forever. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
